We are looking for a Specialist Development Engineer (Exploitation Engineer), Carbon Sequestration to join our exciting team!

The primary focus of this role is to identify, evaluate, and develop carbon sequestration related projects for Enbridge. You will be required to apply industry and technical knowledge, build collaborations with key industry players, coordinate project management and execution and lead a multi-functional team.

What You Will Do
  • Progress large scale, highly multifaceted new infrastructure projects by identifying, evaluating and developing carbon sequestration projects.
  • Responsible for the project development activities associated with planning, development and supervision of operations vital for drilling CO2 sequestration wells from the initial well design to testing, completion and abandonment.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including geology, geophysics, finance/accounting, facility, drilling and completions, land, community engagement, and field staff.
  • Provide engineering support for analysis including the application of practical reservoir and exploitation concepts in the assessment of cores, logs, wireline logs, completions, and production/reserves.
  • Work with a team of project development professionals to provide innovative, fit-for-purpose, development of projects in support of business drivers that directly relate to the growth of Enbridge's assets and revenue base.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including cost engineering, non-technical partner management, system design, project execution and operations.
  • Develop cost estimating plans, budgets and schedules to achieve the defined business goals.
  • Develop realistic and reliable project schedules and cost estimates for capital and operations projects, while appropriately defining risks, uncertainties and probabilistic outcomes for those schedules and cost estimates
  • Engage external engineering firms requiring the preparation of bid packages, evaluation of proposals, awarding work and managing vendors.
  • Coordinate technical activities such as preliminary engineering activities, scope development, cost estimation, schedule development, risk assessment, and providing inputs into the economic analysis.
  • Facilitate post project approval, lead an effective transition from the development phase to the execution phase.
  • Ensure compliance with internal project development procedures, Project lifecycle gating control process, and engineering design standards, as well as providing process improvement recommendations.

Who You Are

You will have the following education and experience:
  • Related Engineering Degree and 10 or more years of oil and gas industry experience in an Exploitation or Development role.
  • Professional Engineer status (P. Eng.).
  • A strong understanding of the value drivers and fundamentals of the businesses in which Enbridge operates in (e.g. pipelines, terminals, storage, utilities, renewables and low carbon development).
  • Strong communication, conflict management, mentor, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and business analytical skills, market insight; communication and influence skills, business & financial savvy, and creativity to develop innovative solutions.
  • Ability to build, develop and maintain relationships with existing or new customers, industry groups and government representatives.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of self-motivation, coordinate internal working groups, and work with Enbridge senior management.
  • Experience with Land and community engagement would be a strong asset.
  • An understanding of enhanced oil recovery and the development and operation of deep disposal wells would be considered an asset.
